Where do functional skills fit in?
Functional Skills is at the heart of what we do at guroo.
Each subject has three process skill areas that student need to master. Being Functional means not only knowing those skills but being able to apply them consistently and confidently to solve problems in familiar and unfamiliar contexts.
Mastery of such skills at one level is essential for progression to the next level.
The QCA sets the Functional Skills standards and teaching guidance.
QCA pass all queries about assessment to the 12 accredited exam boards who offer Functional Skills. All Boards have piloted the exams with varying degrees of success and all have produced Sample Assessment Materials for students to practice.
Functional Skills are an essential element of every line of learning - GCSE, Apprenticeships, Diplomas, A-Level and Foundation Learning Learning. They are a standalone lifetime qualification that all students will be expected to achieve to prove their functionality in work, education and the community.
Please let us know if you would like a sample disk containing free functional skills resources - or a no obligation demonstration on your site.
