How to Buy

We have a very straightforward licensing model that is great value for everyone; training providers, colleges, schools, plus federations, clusters, consortia, buying co-operatives, and entire local authorities.

To use Guroo in your establishment, all you have to do is buy:

  1. An Establishment Licence. This is a one-off payment for your establishment. The price of this licence is based on the number of User Licences (Tutor + Learner) you purchase initially.
  2. Tutor Licences*. Purchase a Tutor Licence for every tutor, teacher or trainer who will use Guroo with learners. This licence lasts for as long as they work at your establishment.
  3. Learner Licences*. Purchase Learner Licences for every learner, student, pupil, apprentice, trainee who will use Guroo – even if that is only in classroom sessions. This licence lasts for as long as they are a learner at your establishment.
  4. Training. Optional, but highly recommended. Our trainers will work closely with you to impart real, practical information and guidance that will ensure your tutors and learners get the most from Guroo.

*You can even purchase licences that cover users for only Initial Assessment, or only Teaching and Learning Resources.

Work Placed Learning, Training Providers

Apprenticeship Programmes

Using Guroo for your Initial Assessment, Diagnostics and Teaching and Learning is a cost-effective way to deliver Functional Skills success in an Apprenticeship context.

Once you have purchased an initial Establishment Licence and Tutor Licences, you can choose to purchase Learner Licences as required, or to purchase in advance to secure a lower unit price. For example, if you manage 1000 new apprentices per year, you might choose to buy licences for one intake of 250:

Establishment Licence: £550

Tutor Licences: 6 x £4.30 = £25.80

Learner Licences: 250 x £4.30 = £1075

Total = £1650.80

… and from then on, you can choose to licence each new intake of 250 apprentices at the same rate, or you can pre-purchase a year’s worth of Learner Licences at a lower unit price of only £2.50 each (for 1001 licences).

Roll On, Roll Off Programmes

Guroo’s licencing is very flexible, and allows you to either buy licences as you need them for individual learners or intakes, or to pre-buy licences at a lower unit price.

For example, to get set up with Guroo initially for 10 tutors and 50 learners:

Establishment Licence: £375

Tutor Licences: 10 x £7.55 = £75.50

Learner Licences: 50 x £7.55 = £377.50

Total = £825

… and from then on, you can choose to licence individual learners at £10 as they join you, or to pre-buy in batches of 30 @ £8.70, 80 @ £6.55, 200 @ £4.95 etc. It’s your choice.

FE Colleges

Flexible Licencing

Most FE Colleges have a substantial requirement to deliver success in Functional Skills – within Apprenticeships, Foundation Learning, GCSEs, and as a standalone qualification. Using Guroo for your Initial Assessment, Diagnostics and Teaching and Learning is a cost-effective way to deliver Functional Skills success in all these contexts.

You can choose to buy licences throughout the year in line with funding streams, or to pre-purchase one or more years ahead to secure a lower unit price.

For example, if you have 3000 Functional Skills students per year, the most economical way to get started is:

Establishment Licence: £975

Tutor Licences: 30 x £1.85 = £25.80

Learner Licences: 3000 x £1.85 = £5550

Total = £6580.50

… or you could pre-buy 2 years worth of Learner Licences and bring the unit price down to £1.40 per learner.

Roll On, Roll Off Programmes

Once your college has a Guroo Establishment Licence, and your Tutors are licenced, you can buy Learner Licences in small numbers for individual learning programmes on-demand.

This allows you to buy Initial Assessment/Diagnostic and/or Teaching and Learning Resources Licences as you need them.

Individual learners at £10 as they join you, or pre-buy in batches of 30 @ £8.70, 80 @ £6.55, 200 @ £4.95 etc. It’s your choice.

Schools

GCSE Skill Check

The new GCSEs (from September 2011) in English and mathematics have a large proportion of the exam marks from functional skills questions. These are quite different from previous GCSE questions, and previous GCSE indicators are not proving accurate at guiding teachers and learners towards Functional Skills success.

If you would like to simply use Guroo’s Initial Assessment and Diagnostic tools with a group of 220 GCSE candidates to check how “functional” they are, this would initially cost:

Establishment Licence:    £550

Tutor Licences (assumes 2 teachers per subject):    4 x £2.35 = £9.40

Learner Licences:    120 x £2.35 = £282

Total = £841.40

This will give you a realistic indication of what level each learner is working at, and a diagnostic report on which Functional Skills they are weak in. To upgrade these licences to include Guroo’s Teaching and Learning Resources would cost only (£9.40 + £282) = £291.40

Foundation Learning Strategy

Every learner who is not aspiring to a Level 2 qualification is by definition on a Founcation Learning pathway and must have Functional Skills – at the appropriate level – as part of that.

To use Guroo’s Initial Assessment and Diagnostic plus extensive Teaching and Learning Resources to help you maximise your foundation learners’ chances of success ; for 350 learners, this would initially cost:

Establishment Licence: £600

Tutor Licences (assumes 10 teachers overall): 10 x £3.75 = £37.50

Learner Licences: 350 x £3.75 = £1312.50

Total = £1950

This will give you a realistic indication of what level each learner is working at, and a diagnostic report on which Functional Skills they are weak in. To upgrade these licences to include Guroo’s Teaching and Learning Resources would cost only (£12.60 + £378) = £390.60

 

Local Authorities, Consortia, Federations …

Guroo’s Licencing model supports bulk-buying licences to be used across centres.

You can pre-buy licences at low per-learner and per-tutor prices based on overall annual uptake and distribute these to centres at a substantial saving.
